While for many mindfulness may be a wonderful tool to help boost personal wellbeing and foster a healthier relationship with their work-life, for actors and acting teachers it is essential. If you want your school and staff to remain on the cutting edge of actor training, we can help.
Although we might not recognise it at first, the principles and skills of mindfulness underpin every aspect of a performers craft and life. These areas include fundamentals such as working with self-consciousness/nerves, accessing emotional life, building resilience in the face of rejection, having the capacity for a subtle somatic experience of our bodies and maintaining attention and awareness in an increasingly hyperstimulated world.
Mindful Acting works to not just teach meditation and mindfulness in isolation from the rest of actor training. We provide specific, clear guidance of how the two disciplines intersect and inform one another. Giving actors and teachers lifelong tools through which to constantly evolve their craft and practice.

Presence, confidence, courage and creativity are at the heart of all successful businesses, yet these states can be strangely elusive in the corporate environment. Everyone knows they’re essential but how do we cultivate them? When we stand in front of a group of others, whether they be colleagues, bosses or employees we want to be able to do so while embodying poise, confidence, dignity and authenticity. But how do we get there?

Why Should I Listen to an Actor?
Actors and performers spend their lives in the public eye and learning the skills needed to successfully execute challenging creative tasks while under the constant scrutiny of others. They face rejection and criticism (both internal and external) on a constant basis whether in the audition room, in front of the camera or on stage. In order for one to successfully navigate the obstacles of the profession, actors undergo rigorous training regimes and exercises in order to develop the necessary skills to remain open, authentic and pliable while also being resilient and focused on communicating to other people.
Why Bother With Mindfulness?
Business is all about relationships. With clients, co-workers, employees and employers, everything we do involves relationship. One of the most under emphasised aspects of modern mindfulness training is relational mindfulness. Despite the misconceptions, meditation and mindfulness practices are not about navel-gazing, nor are they about pushing away thoughts or emotions we don't like. Mindfulness is about coming into a non-adversarial relationship with experience (of ourselves and others).
In order to be truly content with our public personas, we must develop contentment with our private ones. Mindfulness is perhaps the most effective approach to developing an accepting, playful, present, engaged and less judgemental relationship to our internal lives. If we no longer feel ashamed of who we are and what we feel on the inside, the stimuli that once triggered reactions of panic, fear and anxiety will no longer hold such sway over our communication and relationships with others.

Testimonials
"We secured Daniels services as part of a vocational Core Company residential training week 'The Legacy Programme', seeking to explore and deepen our practise as performers and creative professionals. I was impressed by the thorough way Daniel explored what we did as a company and adapted his knowledge to suit our working methodology. His approach was extremely 'can do', flexible and professional, devising targeted workshop training that was both interesting, challenging and practical to the group, a number of whom had no experience of mindfulness or who were challenged by the concept. The experience offered a number of us exploring techniques to bring more mindfulness to both our working and personal lives. Highly recommend Daniel as a trainer and we aim to work with him again."

Creative director - The Walking Theatre Company
"We used Daniel to help deliver a couple of virtual meditation sessions as part of a health and wellbeing event we delivered for a client. Daniel was easy to deal with in the lead up to the event and flexible with his session content and delivery to ensure we found the best solution for the client. Daniel’s session was well attended and well received on the day and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We would be happy to work with Daniel again on other events in the future and can recommend him if you’re looking for someone to deliver a successful virtual meditation session."
